719 Ride

The 719 Ride is 71.9 miles long with 8,600 feet of climbing. We ride on July 19, which is a Friday this year, and roll out from Chipeta Elementary School on the west side of Colorado Springs at 7:19 a.m.

It’s an informal ride I’ve been doing for a couple of years while also trying to get people to join me. I’m expecting 20 to 25 local riders this year.

I had the idea for the 719 Ride after reading a blurb in Bicycling Magazine about the 2-5-10 Century in Emmaus, PA. That ride climbs 14,000′ over 10 loops of the three hills in town and always occurs on the second rest day of the Tour. In 2016 that was July 19, which got my mental wheels turning. The 719 Ride is a Colorado Springs take on that. 71.9 miles on 7/19 in the 719 area code starting at 7:19 a.m. I originally wanted to have 7,190′ of climbing, but that was a little to difficult to make happen.

If you’re willing to share the ride with the club, let me know if there is any additional information I can provide you. I have some FAQ and a fictional backstory for the ride up at https://719ride.com. Thanks for the consideration.
